Treatment Plant Water Quality Modeling and Why You Should Do It
2016 Innovyze Midwest User Group, Indianapolis, IN, November 10, 2016
Fort Wayne City Utilities (FWCU) operates a Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP). The plant utilizes a 30 acre pond originally constructed for effluent polishing and conveyance. Environmental factors such as temperature, algae, and aquatic favoring wildlife have shown historical water quality impacts. During the design and construction program, a water quality model of Pond 3 and the static aerator was developed in InfoWorks ICM to evaluate potential beneficial modifications to the pond. The presentation will also highlight the value that water quality modeling can provide in understanding the performance of treatment plant ponds, and the efficiency in model development that is provided from available treatment plant data.
